2008 Taranki Sustainable Living Fair
(April 2008)
The Positive Futures Trust, along with Tasman Toyota, Resene and Transfield Worley Services, was a major sponsor of the 2008 Taranaki Sustainable Living Fair on April 7th at Inglewood High School.
The primary goal of the Fair was to provide a market place for vendors of products and services to assist businesses, farmers, and households to reduce their carbon footprint. The Fair’s 40 plus stalls featuring solar heating and lighting and wind power equipment, traditional Maori healing, organic food, candles, beauty and farming products, electric and hybrid cars and electric bicycles and more than 20 workshops on subjects ranging from environmental education in schools, permaculture, Transition Towns, eco-friendly waste disposal, community currency to public transportation options for Taranaki. A secondary goal was to keep stall fees low to encourage the participation of local vendors and local groups and to provide free admission to the public. Tours were provided by Inglewood students involved in the high school EnviroPower Project. The Fair attracted more than 3,000 visitors.
